Horses as Teachers: Our Collaboration with Catalyst Bahamas
We had the pleasure of welcoming a brilliant group from Catalyst Bahamas to the ranch a few weeks ago, and what a day it was.
Catalyst is all about leadership and personal growth for teenagers, and this visit was designed to offer something a little different: an up-close connection with horses. Not just to ride them but to understand them.
One learned how to groom and care for a horse (yes, including those hooves).
Another got to shower our horses after their time in the sun.
And the final group had a short riding session in the park, just enough to build confidence and get a feel for what communication in the saddle feels like.
No one was expected to be an expert. That wasn’t the point.
It was about presence. Observation. Respect.
Horses have a way of mirroring our emotions, and for many of these teens, this was their first time being around animals this size. But within minutes, things clicked. The energy softened. The nervousness faded. And curiosity took over.
Our staff had a blast sharing what we do. It’s not every day you get to teach a group this engaged and open. And we were reminded (once again) why horses are some of the best teachers in the world, especially when it comes to leadership, confidence, and calm.
